Will I be on my own on the route?

What a thought! In addition to all the other participants who will be joining you on your Great Camp Adventure Walk, our staff, Camp Crew and Camp Counsellors will be with you all the way!

Do I have to walk all 20 km?

No. You can go as long and as far as your feet will take you. You’ll be able to take part in FUN-filled activities at campsites along the way, enjoying your own Camp adventures. You’re free to hop on the bus back to the Main Campsite from any campsite, for more fun and activities. Whether you complete 5 km, 10 km, 15 km or 20 km, we will be there to celebrate with you. Once you return to the Main Campsite, you will receive your final and official Finisher badge.

Why is the route 20 km?

It’s about challenging yourself while you go at your own pace. Only you know how far you can push yourself. That’s where the challenge comes in…if you think you can walk 10 km then, why not aim for 12 km? It’s entirely up to you. Don’t forget, it’s not a race, it’s a journey and it’s as adventurous as you make it!

What happens at the Main Campsite?

The Main Campsite at Fort York is where your day will start, and where it will finish. It’s all the best things we love about Camp. There’s so much that will be happening, we can only give you a glimpse now of what we have planned and leave a lot of surprises until we see you there! The Tuck Shop. Mess Hall - of course you have to sing for your meals! Talent Show. Games. Arts & Crafts. Quiet time and rest period. Plus, many more Camp activities!

What will I find at the Campsites?

You’ll navigate the route, from campsite to campsite, each with its own unique name and activities. See what they’ll have to offer… from great games and singing camp songs, to learning new skills and making new friends. There’s so much to do at each campsite, you’ll have to try to visit each one. Our Camp Crew will be waiting onsite to keep the FUN going, and if you get hungry, need a bandage or if nature calls (or all three), we have it covered. Nutritious food, bathrooms and medical supplies are all on hand. Campsites vary in distance from each other, but generally there is one every 2-3 km. All efforts are rewarded along the way with unique badges for being a sport, and taking part at the different campsites. Will you be able to collect them all?

Will I be able to participate if I am in a wheelchair?

Yes, Camp is designed to be wheelchair and stroller accessible.

Can I bring my dog?

The Great Camp Adventure Walk is an adventure for the whole family - including the family dog! Well socialized, healthy dogs are permitted to join you and your family on your adventure. If you choose to bring a dog, you are solely responsible for your dog's actions. All dogs must be kept on a leash at all times during the event, and are not permitted in any food and beverage service areas.  Please be courteous and pick up after your dog throughout the event. PetSmart Pup Stops will be available at every campsite including Main Camp, to provide doggie snacks, bags and water.

Can I bring my bike, scooter, rollerblades or skateboard?

For safety reasons, we do not allow any of the above on the route or at Main Camp (Fort York.) Wheelchairs, strollers and wagons are welcome, and we will have stroller parking available for these items if needed.
